A brief overview of collaboration between Motorola Inc. and the Russian JS Company SOFT-TEC is presented. As a consolidation of leading experts from the Russian Academy of Science and industry, and talented youth from the elite Russian universities SOFT-TEC undertook more than 20 challenging projects in the most demanding areas of process and device modeling and simulation. Several most successful projects and achievements are outlined. Essential management aspects are discussed. Relevant Russian legislation including taxation, Customs, Export Control laws and regulations, as well as various issues associated with intellectual property protection are overviewed. Attention is drawn to the relations to the scientific community and institutions in this country and abroad. Key contributing factors to a long term and successful collaboration are highlighted by the examples from the ten years of cooperation history.
